The Low-Carb Diet Wins Again!

We have been recommending a basic low-carb diet as a way of helping people who have diabetes, insulin resistance, neuropathy and even blood pressure problems.

The Atkins Diet (very low-carb and high-fat) had long been held in contempt by most of the medical community. Doctors making unproven claims that if you went on this diet it was sure to skyrocket your cholesterol levels, clog your arteries, a sure recipe for a heart attack, and all were untrue.

In fact the evidence keeps mounting that most people who go on a low-carb diet become healthier in almost every way!

Stanford University just released the results of one such study that was published in the March 7, 2007 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

It was one of the biggest, longest head-to-head studies of popular diet plans. It compared the Atkins Diet to the Zone Diet, the Ornish Diet (very low-fat, high-carb), and a low-fat, high-carb diet similar to U.S. government guidelines.

At the end of 12 months those on the Atkins diet had lost more weight, had better blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and also had lower insulin and blood glucose levels.
